Raise your plate and say cheers to the newest idea in cooking and entertaining - booze infused treats! Already delicious desserts are loaded with extra flavour when you add a hint of spirits to batters, icing and more. From martinis and daiquiris to grasshoppers and tequila sunrises, you can turn your favourite cocktail into an intoxicatingly delicious treat for your next adult party.

There is nothing I like more than dessert, except perhaps a dessert made with liquor! And this collection of delish boozy desserts fits the bill. Each dessert comes with a mouth-watering photo and easy-to-follow instructions. This is an ideal cookbook for any dessert-lover who loves the taste of alcoholic in their dessert. I found the instructions comprehensive and user friendly. I particularly liked the Champagne cake (clever to use maraschino cherry juice) and the recipe for drunken strawberry shortcake. There are a also a variety of interesting 'popsicle' recipes you can make using your favorite adult beverage. This is a great gift party gift, and would be delectable served as a dessert to a booze-appreciative crowd. 5 stars. Excellent book.
I don't know about y'all, but I like to have my cake and drink it too. Let me rephrase, if I can get drunk off of a cupcake, best believe I'm going to do it. Thanks to amateur seamstress and author Peg Couch, we now have a recipe book at our disposal that highlights 75 Booze-Infused Recipes and it's called Spiked Desserts. Imagine delicacies like Hard Lemonade Layer Cake, Drunken Peach Pie Bars, Spiked Eggnog Cream Puffs and a Twisted Ice Cream Tiramisu. The book is littered with colorful photos of all 75 recipes, along with instructions for making the dish, the amount of alcohol needed for each recipe, and advice for baking with booze. We got a copy of the book sitting in our office, we'll share a few recipes with you over the next couple weeks. If we can stay sober long enough to post them.
I don't really drink alcoholic beverages, but I don't mind it when they're mixed with desserts. Spiked Desserts has recipes for both baked treats and frozen goodies. There's a lot of variety when it comes to the liquor used. Right now, I'm eyeing the grasshopper cupcakes. It's mostly creme de menthe, which I like. A special thumbs up for the food styling, too. It's a little more up-close than I would have liked, but it's still very pretty. Thanks to NetGalley and Fox Chapel Publishing for the e-ARC. Publication date for Spiked Desserts is on May 1, 2012. THE GOOD: Gorgeous layout. Interesting recipes. Enticing photos. THE BAD: Some of the ingredients may be hard to find, especially if you don't live in the U.S. FAVORITE QUOTE/S: Come in and make yourself a drink... and a drink-inspired dessert. READ IT IF: You like booze. You like desserts. You like baking. RATING: 4 stars
