Deuteronomy is probably not the first book any preacher would choose to preach, and yet Jesus quoted it regularly. It is the climax of the Pentateuch. Matt’s pointers for application at the end of each chapter are very realistic, making this one of the most useful books for preachers I have come across. Deuteronomy needs to be preached (it’s as much about ‘heart’ as ‘law’), and preachers will not find a better guide.
