In MYOPIA, a young boy discovers a hidden network that alters reality after his father's mysterious return, merging science fiction with noir elements.
In MYOPIA, a homeless man is mysteriously abducted, leaving behind a journal on a subway platform. This journal is filled with stories about a world that seems to exist only in imagination. Meanwhile, a scientist is brutally murdered, and the only clues are his charred lab, a magnetically propelled motorcycle, and a man wandering the streets of New York City with the last living falcon. These elements intertwine, creating a tapestry of mystery and intrigue.
The narrative takes a twist when a twelve-year-old boy named Matthew Glen discovers a pair of special lenses that grant him access to The Central Lens Network, a system that filters every thought and action. This discovery comes on the heels of his father's murder, which adds layers of complexity to his journey. Two years later, his father mysteriously reappears, leading Matthew into a world where reality and fiction blur.
MYOPIA blends science fiction with noir steampunk, evoking the essence of the Dark Age of Comics. The story explores themes of authoritarian control, where government and corporate interests manipulate entertainment to distract the public from a grim reality. As Matthew navigates his newfound abilities and the dangers surrounding him, readers are drawn into a thrilling alternative reality that challenges their perceptions of freedom and truth.
"Tell us if you've got both eyes focusedon this fresh-faced steampunk follow-up from Dynamite." -- Jeff Spry,Syfywire.com
"The book's overall structure-essentially a grave, twisty murder mystery-may also remind comic-book fans of Alan Moore and DaveGibbons' 1980s classic Watchmen.
A fun, socially conscious graphic novel that keeps both eyes on the nearfuture."
-Kirkus
"As a work of sciencefiction, here's plenty about Myopia to recommend. It's commentary on socialmedia dependency and global climate change are clear without being preachy ordistracting from the larger narrative. The mysteries it sets up are compelling, and the setting feels fully realized." --Mike McNulty,bamsmackpow.com
"Myopia remains anenjoyable and original experience. The character of Chase is a compellingcentral figure, and his relationship with Matthew is interesting and well-drawn.The supporting characters have personality and well-defined motivations, and thethreat of the domes and the already-sinister machinations of Formula Media areintriguing. I don't want to spoil the story, but the reader can feel it buildingmomentum throughout, and the shape of the issue serves to accentuate anincreasing sense of foreboding." --Jeremy Radick,Capelesscrusader.org
"Myopia is a solid read for those wholike their sci-fi hard and wordy. The story is interesting, the characters arewell formed, and the art is absolutely gorgeous. I can recommend this to anyoneup for this kind of heavy reading." --Joshua Davison, BleedingCool
