This comprehensive guide details essential surgical techniques and procedures in plastic surgery, making it a vital resource for both residents and experienced practitioners. Operative Techniques in Plastic Surgery is ideal for quick reference.
A new addition to the best-selling Operative Techniques series, Operative Techniques in Plastic Surgery offers expertly illustrated, authoritative guidance on surgical techniques. This resource provides a thorough understanding of how to select the most appropriate procedure, avoid potential complications, and anticipate expected outcomes. With a user-friendly layout that is both current and visually engaging, it serves as an essential reference for residents and practicing physicians alike.
Covering all facets of plastic surgery, Operative Techniques in Plastic Surgery addresses various areas including facial aesthetics, breast surgery, hand reconstruction, body contouring, and pediatric plastic surgery. The text is succinct and organized with bulleted points and quick-reference tables, allowing for rapid information retrieval and comprehension of best practices and potential issues associated with each procedure.
The book is rich in visual content, featuring hundreds of full-color intraoperative photographs and illustrations, alongside numerous high-quality videos that illustrate surgical procedures step by step. Each clinical problem is presented in a consistent format, encompassing definition, anatomy, patient history, imaging, and surgical management. This structured approach ensures that readers can quickly prepare for procedures, making it an invaluable tool for both training and practice.
So far, I have used this book to prepare for several cases, including cubital tunnel release, upper blepharoplasty, facial fillers/Botox, breast reduction, and mastopexy-augmentation. The background sections are comprehensive and cover the key information, and while they could become redundant between sections, it seems they have been carefully curated not to repeat content. I found myself picking up “pearls” even in procedures which have become more routine, as well as understanding the specific steps and decision-making involved in working up a patient for surgery. I especially look forward to diving more into the pediatric and craniofacial sections, as I think a step-by-step technique resource has been a particular need in this area of plastic surgery.
In summary, Operative Techniques in Plastic Surgery is a truly comprehensive resource. I anticipate this book will become commonplace to find on the bookshelves of resident and attending surgeons alike.
