Creating Effective Transitions cover

This book focuses primarily on elementary to middle school transitions. This book was developed with a two-fold premise: one, that educators and parents understand the role they play in meeting the basic developmental needs of individual students during times of transition; and two, that school leaders understand how critically important it is for organizations to create structured transition processes to better ensure student success before, during and after transitions that supports the growth and development of students. This book includes authentic scenarios that are research-based to help combat the barriers associated with the transitional moves elementary students may experience. The goal is that school organizations and institutions will work collectively to strategically develop district-wide and inter-agency (high school and college) transition plans to help students with these critical periods.

This book focuses on the real world issues that our students are facing every day in our schools.  The authors have provided common sense approaches to helping students through tough transitional times during their educational journey. -- Kelly A. Foster, PhD, associate commissioner, Kentucky Department of Education; adjunct professor, Western Kentucky University
Sometimes, there is such a glaring need for a book to have been written, as soon as you read the first page, an epiphany happens. Christian, Koett, and Potter have filled a void here so desperately needing more attention. The three have hit a homerun! For parents, P-12 and higher education teachers, and administrators, simply read this book. You most likely know someone whose future in schooling is hanging by a thread right now, and you are the lifeline. -- Joseph 'Rocky' Wallace, PhD, coordinator, Principal Licensure Program; associate professor of Graduate Education, Asbury University
Poignant, compelling, and, above all… useful.  Educators, parents, and anyone whose work touches the lives of children and youth will benefit from these gripping and instructive tales of school transitions and how to design them for success.  -- Mike Rutherford, president, Rutherford Learning Group, Inc. and author,"The Artisan Teacher: A Field Guide to Skillful Teaching", president, Rutherford Learning Group, Inc. and author and author,"The Artisan Teacher: A Field Guide to Skillful Teaching"
