Encourage students to learn independently and build on their knowledge with this textbook that leads students seamlessly from basic biology to more complicated concepts.
The OCR A Level Biology Student Book 1 is designed to foster independent learning among students, guiding them from fundamental biological concepts to more advanced theories. This textbook is tailored to meet the requirements of the OCR exam board, making it a valuable resource for A-level biology students. It was first taught in September 2015, with the inaugural exam taking place in June 2016.
The book emphasizes the development of essential skills through a variety of practical activities. These activities not only introduce the practical requirements outlined by OCR but also encompass other experimental investigations in biology. Throughout the text, students will find assessment guidance, including synoptic and multiple-choice questions, along with revision tips that are conveniently compiled in dedicated chapters. This structured approach supports students in consolidating their understanding and preparing effectively for their exams.
In addition to its comprehensive content, the textbook enhances learning with engaging examples and clear diagrams. Students are encouraged to apply their knowledge through Test Yourself questions and exam practice questions, reinforcing their grasp of practical work. The inclusion of a dedicated chapter on 'Maths in Biology' and ongoing mathematical support further strengthens students' understanding. With free online access to answers, an extended glossary, and topic summaries, this textbook serves as a thorough and accessible resource for students navigating the complexities of biology at the A-level.
The Dedicated mathematics skills chapter is a wonderful inclusion. All the maths skills a student will need to demonstrate can be found, explained and exemplified in one place. -- A Popperwell, Science Teacher * Abigail Lambert *
