War and Liberation in France

HILARY FOOTITT is a writer whose work includes studies of the Liberation of France, and the representation of women in the Resistance. She has a particular interest in language and the creation of community in both historical and contemporary settings. She is currently Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Stirling.

The book looks at the Liberation through 5 case-studies: Normandy, Cherbourg, Provence, the Pyrénées-Orientales and Reims, and uses the words of participants at the time to describe the developing relationship between Liberators and Liberated.
