In Birder, She Wrote, Meg's peaceful summer morning takes an unexpected turn as her father enlists her help to install a new batch of bees in their backyard hive. Just when she thinks she can return to her hammock and enjoy the taste of Michael’s latest Arnold Palmers, Mayor Shiffley interrupts her tranquility with a request. He asks Meg to address the concerns of the NIMBYs, a group of newcomers who have moved into McMansions next to the local farms and are making life difficult for the farmers.
