Bibliography of Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism cover

This volume is an annotated bibliography of terrorism and counter-terrorism studies.

The book’s objective is, primarily, to provide the terrorism and counterterrorism analytical/academic and operational/government (public policy, intelligence, military and law enforcement) communities with a comprehensive and detailed awareness and knowledge of the substantial literature of books on these issues, and especially how they are organized topically, which will enable them to better research, understand, and write about these topics in their respective areas of specializations. Since its founding in the 1960s, the discipline of terrorism and counterterrorism studies has branched out into numerous sub-fields, with each focusing on its own specific research areas. Consequently, it has become difficult even for academic experts to keep track of the enormous number of books published on these subjects on an annual basis around the world. This book’s comprehensive and detailed coverage of the wide range of books published on these topics, therefore, will help to fill this knowledge gap about the discipline’s enormous number of books published over the years, including providing new students a quick introductory coverage of these books.

Compiled and edited by an expert in the field, this bibliography offers a comprehensive listing of approximately 2,000 books published in English, and primarily since the 1960s, with each entry consisting of a citation followed by a brief description of each book listed. The book is introduced by an overview from the editor that also discusses the book’s organization and the selection criteria employed. It is divided thematically into seven parts, which are not intended to be mutually exclusive or linear in their thematic progression. Each part and chapter is further introduced by a brief overview of 1-2 paragraphs; each text annotation will be 2-5 sentences (or so) in length, without editorializing.

This volume will be of much interestst to students of terrorism and counter-terrorism, political violence, criminology and security studies.
