Couples, Gender, and Power

Gender and Power in Couple Relationships draws on in-depth research of couples in different situations and cultures to identify educational and therapeutic interventions that will help couples become conscious of and move beyond gendered power in their relationships so they can expand their options and well-being. The book identifies the differences between couples who get stuck in gender legacy patterns; uses research reports to illustrate clinical concerns and inform innovative interventions; offers a diversity of participants so professionals are able to learn from many kinds of families; documents the costs of being in a relationship ruled by 'gender legacy' behavior; and, makes a case for why it is essential for clinicians to address this issue.
