Groups at Work cover

This book has two purposes. First, it is fundamentally about groups at work, both as they attempt to accomplish their goals and as they operate in organizational settings. Second, it draws together group researchers from social psychological and organizational studies. Each chapter focuses on a central issue regarding groups as they work and examines that issue by drawing from both social psychological and organizational research. Thus, this book centers on the convergence and divergence of these two fields.

"One strength of this book is that the vast majority of the chapters provides significant contributions to theory on intragroup processes and the interplay among individuals, groups, and the social context in organizations. On the whole, the chapters are well written and most serve as very effective reviews of their specific content domain....Overall, Groups at Work contains a large number of chapters that provide interesting and valuable perspectives on group theory and research."

Social Work With Groups

"...the book contains numerous well-written, well-argued, and well-documented chapters on the performance of work teams. Many chapters contain new ideas, new data, or extensions beyond work published elsewhere..."
