The four topic books are clearly and simply laid out, incorporating stunning photography and high-quality diagrams with well-written, accurate and easy-to-read text. (Reading ages = Year 3 - Year 4.) Each pupils' book incorporates features of non-fiction texts that pupils are required to study in Literacy lessons, e.g. contents lists, diagrams, flow charts, captions, report writing, glossaries, indexes, etc. The Teaching Guide is clearly cross-referenced to the teaching objectives of the National Literacy Strategy. It contains lesson plans and photocopiable activity sheets for guided reading and guided writing activities. A helpful assessment checklist and merit award sheet is included.
