A long-term, comprehensive longitudinal study analyzing developmental changes in the cognitive, social, and personality domain.

This book describes the findings of a long-term study conducted at the Max Planck Institute for Psychological Research in Munich from 1984 to 1993. Using a sample of about 200 children, the study sought to analyze developmental changes in cognition, social skills, and personality, and explore possible interrelationships in developmental changes across domains. This book describes the findings of a longitudinal study conducted with about 200 children from 1984 to 1993. Children were recruited for the study when they had just entered kindergarten at the age of about 4 years. The study aimed to investigate changes in cognitive, social, and personality development over the preschool and elementary school years. One of the unique features of this longitudinal study is that relationships and interactions among cognitive, social, and personality development could be assessed based on the data of a representative sample of children.

"...this is an excellent book. It provides a unique longitudinal perspective on childhood development that is unrivaled. Any developmental psychologist will want to read this volume." Robert J. Sternberg, Human Development
