This volume will focus on and emphasise the clinical relevance of diabetic nephropathy, a relatively common problem of diabetes. It affects about one in three patients with Type 1 diabetes, and left untreated can lead to a progressive decline in renal function, accompanied by retinopathy and arterial hypertension, which, in turn, leads to cardiovascular disease - a common cause of death in these patients. Diabetic Nephropathy will also provide the reader with a solid grounding in current basic and clinical research.
"...a helpful addition to the library of medical professionals dealing with diabetic patients...provides…a more comprehensive...significantly cheaper alternative to Nephropathy in Type 2 Diabetes in the Oxford Clinical Nephrology Series...." (Doody’s, March 9, 2002)
"…The information enriched my perspectives…this is an excellent and richly documented synopsis of a complicated area of medicine…" (Diabetologia, November 2002)
