'The progression from the first “historical” chapters to the last ones which deal with painting, literature and music is in itself significant. I feel it corresponds well with the tendency of contemporary psychoanalytic speculation to recuperate the expressive value of bodily motility and language, and explore intercorporeality. In other words, the transition is from a psychoanalysis more tied to representation, lògos, history and real trauma towards a psychoanalysis more connected with emotions, the non-verbal, the aesthetic dimension and the intersubjective layer of the personal identity.'
