Human Factors for Pilots cover

This book has two functions. The first is to provide a comprehensive and concise outline of the available human factors knowledge for the practicing pilot. The second function is to provide this knowledge in a way that follows very closely the syllabus of the UK Civil Aviation Authority's (CAA) Human Performance and Limitations examinations for both professional and private pilots. Although the private pilot's syllabus requires a narrower range of subjects to be studied, and in less detail, than the professional syllabus, this handbook covers both requirements, with syllabus variations being indicated in the contents page. The book is divided into four major sections containing material from psychology, physiology and medicine.

Reviews of first edition: 'Well laid out and illustrated, it presents in clear, easily assimilable language and text, a comprehensive outline of what is currently known about the physiological, psychological and medical factors which can affect the practice of flying.' Occupational Safety and Health 'Written for pilots, this book covers the nitty gritty of human factors considerations in a very digestible manner. Well worth reading.' Flight Safety (New Zealand Civil Aviation Safety Magazine) Reviews of second edition: '...an excellent study...' Airways 'I would recommend this book not just to the target audience...but also for anyone else wanting an introduction to the issues of human factors in aviation or in similar transport areas...' Ergonomics Abstracts '...the order of presentation of the material matches precisely the UK syllabus and will enable you to gain the information you need to pass this exam.' Aerostat
