KS3 History 4th Edition: Invasion, Plague and Murder: Britain 1066-1558 Curriculum and Assessment Planning Guide cover

This planning guide enriches Key Stage 3 history education, focusing on medieval and Tudor Britain, and supports teachers in curriculum design and assessment.

The KS3 History 4th Edition: Invasion, Plague and Murder serves as an essential resource for educators aiming to create a structured and engaging curriculum for Key Stage 3 students. This fourth edition focuses on significant periods in British history, particularly from the medieval era through the early Tudor period, covering topics such as Anglo-Saxon England, the Norman Conquest, and the intricate relationships between England and its neighboring nations. It provides a robust framework for teachers to develop lesson plans that are rich in content and aligned with national standards.

This guide not only assists in curriculum design but also emphasizes the importance of assessments that are thoughtfully integrated with the KS3 National Curriculum and GCSE requirements. Each chapter includes mapped literacy, mathematics, and historical skills, ensuring that students are well-prepared for their academic journey. Additionally, the guide supports non-specialist teachers by offering concise historical overviews and critical dates relevant to each topic.

Moreover, the KS3 History 4th Edition: Invasion, Plague and Murder includes resources for further reading, ideas for extending learning beyond the classroom, and detailed assessment planning tools. With features like differentiated sample answers and quick knowledge quizzes, this guide aims to inspire both educators and students, making history accessible and engaging. The accompanying digital resources enhance the learning experience, providing interactive materials that cater to diverse learning needs.

I really like the new step-by-step History Skills - it builds up the skills pupils need to apply in order to effectively analyse sources; clear pupil-friendly language allows pupils to gain confidence when looking at sources. The assessment approach is excellent too. I particularly like the way the scaffolding allows confidence to be built in preparation for the 'big write'.
