"KS3 History 4th Edition: Invasion, Plague and Murder: Britain 1066-1558 Student Book" is the first volume in the popular Oxford KS3 History series by Aaron Wilkes. This updated edition serves as a comprehensive introduction to medieval and early Tudor British history, covering significant events and themes such as the Anglo-Saxon period, the Norman Conquest, and the complex relationships between England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and France. It also addresses important topics related to medicine, public health, religion, and political power during this transformative era.

The textbook is designed to support a coherent, knowledge-rich curriculum, equipping students with the essential historical knowledge and skills needed for success in Key Stage 3 History. It lays a strong foundation for future GCSE studies. The content is thoughtfully organized, with assessments that facilitate student progression. Historical sources and interpretations are presented with clarity, allowing students to engage critically with the material.

Additionally, the book features activities that check students' understanding and gradually increase in difficulty to build confidence. It offers step-by-step guidance on key historical skills and includes a literacy focus to enhance essay writing and grammar. With complete assessment support, including quizzes and exam-style questions, this edition retains Aaron Wilkes' engaging style, which has been shown to inspire young historians. The accompanying Kerboodle resources provide a digital platform filled with interactive materials, further enriching the learning experience and supporting all students' progress.

I really like the new step-by-step History Skills - it builds up the skills pupils need to apply in order to effectively analyse sources; clear pupil-friendly language allows pupils to gain confidence when looking at sources. The assessment approach is excellent too. I particularly like the way the scaffolding allows confidence to be built in preparation for the 'big write'
