New edition is response to growing interest in global warming
The second edition of this book presents an updated account of the transfer of energy, matter and momentum between the atmosphere and the ocean. It covers atmospheric, oceanographic and climatological problems affected by air-sea interactions, and emphasizes an understanding of the physical processes. The second edition of this book presents an up-to-date account of the transfer of energy, matter, and momentum between the atmosphere and the ocean. The expository style of the book will be welcomed by students and professionals alike, within the fields of meteorology, oceanography, and physics. Topics covered include surface wind waves, the planetary boundary layer, and radiation.
It is recommended to students physical oceanography, meteorology and environmental physics who wish to improve their understanding of the interface between ocean and atmosphere. N. C. Wells
The book appears to have been written principally for postgraduate physical oceanographers and meterologists, but as it is well written it should be reasonably accessible to many others. The inclusion of gas and particle transfer would reward the study of interested marine geochemists.................I am highly impressed that two scientists can cover such a large area of research at such an advanced level.....................this is an academically challenging book, but I have found it to be a valuable reference and can recommend it. It is a serious book, but adequately rewards the readers efforts * Ocean Challenge *
