This is a collection of forty fairly familiar songs . . . tastefully edited by Neil Jenkins . . . Singers looking for songs whose texts have a scriptural base will find great treasure here . . . The collection should be widely appreciated. * Musical Opinion Summer 97 *
Sing Solo Sacred is a well-collected compendium with many well-known favourites that singers will love to perform and an audience will love to hear . . . The accompaniments have been tailored to suit the church organ as well as the piano, and do echo the truth as far as possible when straddling two accompanimental mediums . . . The album is available in high or low voice, reasonably priced and accessible to singers of all standards and for accompanists of a moderate ability. It offers a good and varied familiar selection of sacred repertoire, and takes range of voice into consideration in the transpositions. There is a helpful list at the front of the book giving directions as to which songs are appropriate for occasions such as Eastertide, weddings, funerals and others. It is not a definitive edition, nor is it meant to be, but it certainly serves a flexible purpose. * Music Teacher, Sept 97 *
