The first version of the Argonautica was penned by Apollonius of Rhodes during the mid-third century B.C. He later served as the director of the illustrious Library of Alexandria, which was the central hub of knowledge and literature during that era. The translation by Aaron Poochigian, a noted poet and lecturer in Classics at The Ohio State University, brings fresh accessibility to this ancient text. His previous translations include works by Sappho and Aeschylus, showcasing his expertise in rendering classical literature into engaging modern forms.

Benjamin Acosta-Hughes, a Professor of Greek and Latin at The Ohio State University, also lends his scholarly insight to this edition.
